Thanks for joining. Today, we're reading First Samuel 16, which you should have already read. If you haven't, pause the episode, go read it, and then jump back in.

0:17.8

We're in First Samuel 16, but we're specifically looking at verses 14 and 15,

0:22.8

which read, now the spirit of the Lord departed from Saul and a harmful spirit from the Lord

0:28.6

0:35.4

0:39.2

1:18.2

New Covenant era, when you become a believer, you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Once you're saved,

1:24.3

and you're always saved, the Holy Spirit is not going to leave you.

1:28.9

Living in the New Covenant era is like a bike with training wheels.

1:32.4

It's dependable, and it's not going to fall over.

1:35.7

Plus, we can't do this life on our own strength.

1:39.1

Much like a little kid can't ride a bike all on their own, all on his or her own, we need the spirit like a kid needs

1:46.4

training wheels. But then there's the Old Covenant era. That's the era in which Saul lived.

1:54.0

Not all of God's people got the Spirit and the Spirit could come and go. It wasn't a guarantee.
