0:23.3	today we are in Exodus 35, and the question is, how tightly do you hold your possessions? How
0:30.4	tightly do you hold your possessions? What happens when we aren't willing to give of what we have,
0:36.8	when we hold material possessions, or even things like our time or comforts tightly, we fail to give God what is rightfully his. And additionally, we miss out on the joy that comes from participating in his mission, his work, on this earth. And I don't think any of us reading together want to miss out. We look at today's
0:57.6	passage in verses 4 through 5 read, Moses said to the whole Israelite community, this is what the
1:04.8	Lord has commanded. From what you have, take an offering for the Lord, everyone who is willing to
1:10.6	bring it to the Lord, an offering of
1:12.1	gold, silver, and bronze. And then he goes on. There's more on that list, and I've kind of
1:17.3	contextualized it for us. He says, if you got really, really fancy yarn, bring it. You've got fine
1:23.3	linen, bedding or sheets from crate and barrel or pottery barn, bring them. Do you have goat hair?
1:28.6	I'm like, do you own ugg boots? Give him up. And he keeps going. Ram's skin and fine leather.
1:34.9	How many of us have a leather couch or chair in our homes? I sat in one as I wrote this episode.
1:40.5	From what you have taken offering from the Lord. And maybe you don't have fancy threads or leather.
1:46.6	Good news is there's more on the list.
1:48.6	Scour your kitchen because you can offer olive oil or spices.
1:53.0	Maybe you or your spouse or your girlfriend or fiancé has jewelry.
1:57.2	Or you've got a really nice watch.
1:58.9	Gold, silver, bronze, fine stones, and gems were also acceptable
