I'm better.

I may sound like I'm still under the weather, but I feel great. You're on top of the weather.

That's good. You're on top of the weather. All right, pastor, I have to admit, we are several

episodes in, and I am full-fledged feel like I'm in a seminary class, learning things I have never

learned before. This has been awesome. Okay. This has been awesome. So last week, we wrapped up talking about the Bible Jesus used, the Tanak. This week, I think you wanted to go into how Jesus looked at the Bible. Yeah. So let's start with, we've got to back up again. We're still not, for those who are ready to start learning some biblical passages, those are coming. But we have to develop a framework to get there. This is three steps forward, one step back. Yeah. Because we have to, we like, ooh, we forgot. Because last week we gave some really good connections, I feel like, from old to new, but now we're back to just big picture stuff. And you'll see, if you hang with us today, this will be worth the wait. So one of the big things that we need to get in our mind, and this is a constant reminder, it's a constant preaching to ourselves. We need to think this way when it comes to the Bible is we have to think with two hands. Always talk about this. I'm going to give you a great illustration to think about this. And I got this illustration from Ray Vanderlorn, who's a Jewish, Hebrew scholar, who's learned

at the Hebrew University and has taught for years.

Ray actually gives this illustration.

And what he says is, for years, you and I, let's say you and I are sitting outside of

a room in our home, okay? Or let's say when I went to my grandmother's house, there was a certain

room that was off limits. Okay, you ever had that? Oh yeah. It was that room that had the plastic

covering. Remember those? On the white couch. On the white couch, yes, which is fascinating to me that you would buy a couch not to use the fabric of them. Yeah. So my grandmother had that. We had the big plastic covering. And that was just a showroom. Nobody ever went in the room. We just kind of looked at it from a distance. We also had show dishes. Oh,. Like we had a lot of the cabinet you never used.

Ooh, just relax. Exactly. Yeah. In the, in the China. Don't take that column. Take the other. Exactly.

Now the paper ones are over there. When do we ever get to use those dishes? Yeah, I wonder if anybody

listening had that experience too. We just sell them at a yard sale. Yeah, I'm sure.

Later. Yeah, exactly. Uh, so let's just say this room has a doorway, and you're always out in the living room looking at this kind of gathering room or welcoming room, whatever it's called. Okay. But let's say as you sit in the living room, you're sitting in a particular chair, and you're looking through this doorway from a distance. Let's say you're 30 feet away. You have a vantage point or a perspective of the room. You've seen it always

from that perspective. You've always been at that angle. You can see a corner of the room. You can't

see all the room. You can see maybe some pictures on the wall. You can see a couch. For 20 years,

let's say you've had that perspective.
