Welcome back to R.L. Stein Story Club. I'm Ivy, and I'm the keeper of these stories,

the club leader who will introduce you to the strange, the frightening, the unsettling story club world.

Our stories come from R. L. Stein's Hidden Vault, and they've never been heard before.

The only people who get to hear them are story club members, so kudos to you for joining us.

Today we meet Jack Goldman, who wants to dedicate his life to being a clown. I don't always

understand life goals people come up with, but I can respect the commitment. What could possibly go

wrong with the life goal focused on clowns? Actually, it turns out a lot can go wrong,

which we're about to discover. It's R. L. Stein Story Club, and this is Be a Clown.

Boo!

Jack! Take off that stupid clown mask. You know clowns freak me out.

You threw your soda across the room!

You're cleaning that up! Take that thing off!

No can-do! I'm in character!

Mom! Your toddler is out of his crib again!

Oh, you're funny! You should think about being a clown!

That sounds like the worst job on Earth! Clowns aren't scary. They're funny.

They've been making people laugh for hundreds of years.

Just ask your teacher.

Mrs. Amos, she'll tell you I wrote a clown report.
