monsters. It's one I call Chessie of Chesapeake Bay. So I was searching for some summer fun and maybe doing a little monster hunting because, hey, I'm a multitasker.

And so I decided to check out Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

The boating there is great, and also there's a mythical monster who allegedly lurks beneath the waves of the massive estuary.

Her name is Chessie.

Described as serpent-like and as long as a telephone pole, the first sighting of Chessie seems to have been in 1846,

when a captain named Lawson spotted an unusual creature in the waters between the tip of the

Delmarva Peninsula and what is today Virginia Beach at the mouth of the bay.

Later, the sea monster was reported to be seen in 1936 by some helicopter pilots, and in later
