0:20.6	This tale story club members is extra spooktacular because it was inspired by one of you.
0:28.0	Thank you so much to my beloved listener, eight-year-old Oliver from Atlanta, for coming up with today's lurking tale for us.
0:37.5	It's one I call the whispering woods of Waverly.
0:43.9	Waverly was a nice, secure, middle- upper-class New England town.
0:49.7	And like so many New England towns, however fancy the houses had become in the neighborhoods
0:55.7	over the years, and however Tweed the shops were, there was always a legend of long ago
1:02.4	that lingered.
1:03.9	Unsettling, really, when you think about it.
1:06.5	Anyway, the town of Waverly was no different.
1:10.3	Behind the knick-knacks and plush everyday comforts of its citizens,
1:14.5	everyone lived in the shadow of the legend of the whispering woods.
1:19.1	It was said that deep within these woods,
1:22.5	which were nestled right up against the edge of the town,
1:25.6	lived a creature known as the shade of Waverly.
1:29.6	The shade was not just a ghost, but a guardian of the woods, protecting its secrets and
1:36.0	treasures from the outside world. And the shade of Waverly wasn't exactly supposed to be
1:42.3	just friendly. The young tend to heed legends and warnings,
1:48.0	less of the time than the old.
