Hello again, Story Club members.

I'm Ivy, your ghostly host with the most and keeper of the strangest, spookiest tales on earth.

Today is another Ivy's chilling tale.

The spirited tale story club members might make you wonder about the things that go bump in the night.

It's one I call spooker of the house.

Marjorie and Miles Thoreau had haunted this empty house for as long as they could remember.

They were twins who died one winter when Marjorie had fallen through the ice on the pond outside.

Miles had tried to save his sister, but he fell in too.

They froze to death in mere minutes, and when they woke up,

their bodiless forms were in the halls of this house.

Heartbroken over the loss of their only children, the parents soon moved out,

and ever since then, every family that moved into the house usually left after a few weeks.

The twins had this little game called Spooker of the House.

The one who performed the final scare that would send the interlopers of their country mansion

packing would win the coveted tile and be the head of the home until the next group

of unsuspecting

homeowners would show up. So far, it was tied three to three. So when the Du Bois family arrived,

it was time for another scare contest that would decide who the ultimate spooker of the house was.

It was a family of four, parents and two children, Clint and Chloe, twins who were ten, the same age as Marjorie

and Miles had been when they died. Scaring people varied. Sometimes it was as simple as chains

rattling around in the attic after midnight or opening and slamming the front door in the

pre-dawn hours. Sometimes it was pulling a cat's tail or throwing dishes around the kitchen. Different people require different scares.
