Hello again, Story Club members. I'm Ivy, your ghostly host with The Most and keeper of the strangest, spookiest tales on earth. Today is another Ivy's chilling tale. This sickening tale, story club members, might put you off your feed for a while.

It's called Fried Up.

Daniel Biggleston was starving.

He'd been swimming all day with his friends at the local pool.

He was having so much fun doing dives into the deep end and splashing around with his friends

he'd forgotten to eat.

But when it was close to 6 o'clock and he was supposed to be home for dinner, Daniel suddenly

realized that he was hungry, like hungrier than he'd ever been before in his life.

His stomach roamed and felt as empty as a football. Daniel was so hungry, he thought about

eating a sneaker as it flapped on the warm concrete as he waited for his mom to pick him up.

She was running late. So sorry, sweetie. We had an employee meeting after work at the bank that ran a little late.

His mom apologized as she pulled up and led him into the car. It's okay, mom, but can we please stop by a drive-thru and get some food? Daniel begged. Sounds like a plan to me. I'm so wiped out from work, and I don't have anything at home to make dinner with anyway.

Except for a fridge full of condiments and some frozen pizzas old enough to be in a museum collection.

Daniel smiled, relieved that his mom was on board. Oh, let's go to that new chicken place. I heard that the fried chicken is out of this world.

Good idea. If we get the family-sized meal,

then we'll have enough for your dad and little sister to eat for dinner too. So Daniel's mom

pulled up to the drive-thru of country fresh chicken, a new fast food restaurant with a rustic

design. Though the girl taking the order through the speaker was friendly, the man who handed

them their food wasn't. He glared at them, and it looked like he hadn't

showered in a few days. Though his mom thought that strange, Daniel didn't care. He wanted to eat

all the good smelling food before they even got home. They'd gotten a 12-piece chicken dinner with

mashed potatoes and gravy sides, coleslaw biscuits, and macaroni and cheese.
