It's not part of my series. It's a personal piece that felt appropriate to share with you here.

I wanted to let you know that I have not disappeared. I'm actually hard at work on the new season, with a new story.

In the scheme of the universe,

Rosalind Sheridan was just one person.

She wasn't famous, and there isn't much about her on the internet.

Here's the type of information that was included in her obituary.

Born in Liverpool, immigrated to Israel as a young socialist, got married, moved to Canada,

had kids, got lung cancer, but never smoked.

Also, she was my mom. She died eight years ago, and every year my memories of her fade a little.

She died before I became a mother myself, and now I have two boys of my own, who obviously never met her.

How do I keep her alive for them?

How do I get them to know who she really was?

It's all abstract when you haven't got a person in front of you, and so for my kids, my mom's main personality trait

is being dead.
