I received my Ph.D. in 19th century American history from the University of Colorado.

And after that, I worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Church

I'm joined by my friend Richard Leduc, who's an adjunct professor at the University of Utah.

I think to start off, what I'd like to do is talk a little

bit about why history matters to Latter-day Saints. And I think it matters in particular,

because Latter-A-Saints have a different type of truth claim than many other religions do,

at least many other Christian religions. I'd like to kind of share a story

with everybody that demonstrated to me just exactly how important history can be, or

at least the way that people use it in relation to our faith.
