Since this episode was recorded, there's been a major update.

On July 2nd, 2025, Brian Colberger pled guilty to four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary, avoiding the death penalty.

And just three weeks later, on July 23rd, he was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences without parole

and an additional 10 years for burglary. The court also imposed a $270,000 restitution and civil penalties.

Newly released investigative documents detail how key evidence led to Colberger's arrest. Detectives recovered a DNA-covered Q-tip from his family's trash

and linked it to DNA left on a knife sheath found next to Madison Morgan's body.

Investigators also noted that Colberger had thoroughly cleaned his car, removing everything from

the glove box to the seats, except for a single hair and a blood-stained seat belt.
