socket to me. Extremely old Hollywood origins of Hollywood almost. So last week,

Alicia, I took us through a bit of the madness that was part and parcel of the early days of rock

and roll. This week we're gonna explore the genius and folly that launched what has become the movie

industry. And in particular, a titan of the forms early years, Buster Keaton, one of silent films

most enduring comedians. And one of the best filmmakers in history, most people who know what they're

talking about agree. Buster Keaton, who was born into a vaudevillian world and seamlessly or not,

survived the transitions to the silent film era and then to talkies while also surviving marriage

into one of the most famous families of the day. Wow. Yeah, he's remembered and they're

less remembered. It turns out Buster's childhood was complicated, let's say that. His father,

who was Joseph Halley Keaton of a Terahote, Indiana, he had been born in 1867,
