What's the biggest mistake you see people make when trying to decide, should I say yes,

lean in, commit, stick it out, or walk away? Well, the biggest mistake is that

people really start to date patterns rather than people. This idea of offering grace is vital

when someone is on the road to becoming emotionally healthy. If they're not on that road,

well, grace isn't the primary factor there. If you want to succeed on a date, illuminate that person. Quit asking how am I doing

and quit performing and get to know that person. And if they can't do that back, if they don't have

the curiosity quotient to give you that back,

probably not going to go so well.

Ask yourself when you're dating this person, do they have the capacity to adjust their attitude in spite of their circumstances?

Because if you don't, you're going to be married to somebody that is pulling you down.

How do you know when to lean in and when do you know it's time to walk away?

I think this is the biggest question we get,

especially when it comes to relationships. And from that, hey, we're boyfriend and girlfriend stage to the, I'm getting down on one knee and asking them to marry me. It's like this huge,

ambiguous gray relationship journey that's so different for every couple. For some, it's three months, for some it's three years. And along the way, it's just really hard to know, should I stay or should I go? No, that's not a Rolling Stones reference. I was going to say, where does that go? So should I stay or should I go? But this is also, it's just a huge deal because this is where a lot of people get stuck. And for a good reason, because this is one of the biggest decisions you're ever going to make, choosing who you're going to marry. And as Christians, hopefully we're making that decision for a lifetime. We're not just making that decision loosely.
