Says, I'm 65, been working since I was eight years old.

My summer employment when I was 11, 12, 14 was loading watermelons in north central Florida.

Now I get skin cancers cut off every six to seven months.

Back then, the sunscreen was the layer of dirt that accumulated in

the fields. I understand why people don't want to work in the fields. Mike, listening on WDBO,

you're not wrong on that. Man, though, so you all know one of the things, it is the weirdest, weirdest thing.

I am really allergic to watermelon, and I love watermelon. When I was a kid, cold watermelon

with salt on it, oh my gosh, it was the greatest thing. And when I got to be about 12 or 13 years

old, I developed some weird allergy to melons, particularly watermelon. Cannot eat it. We'll wind up in the hospital. It is just the craziest thing. And, oh, man, it is a hot summer day and having a cold slice of watermelon would be one of the greatest things. But I don't want to die today, so I won't do it. But, yeah, working in the fields. When you're a kid, I never, I mean, y'all, you know, you can say it with me.
