This is Jenny Allen and you are listening to the Made for This Podcast.

For our next season of the podcast, I'm really excited. We're going to actually go back and

visit a project that I wrote 10 years ago, which is incredible, because it just doesn't feel that

long ago. And it's called Rest called restless because you were made for more.

And it's a book about finding our purposes and understanding exactly where God wants us to be

and how he built us and where to find ourselves and there's so much about it that I love.

I mean, I still 10 years later, I just think it is so important that every one of us go through this

process at some point in our lives and yet we approach this season a very

different place than when I wrote the book and when it came out.

Because when it came out 10 years ago, there was still, especially within women in the church,

there was still this sense that was wrong to pursue our purposes.

And I think what's happened in the last 10 years

is almost an over-correction.

Like we have all tried to find our great-grand purpose.

And I actually revisited this book and I was really grateful for what I wrote in the beginning because our hope, our identity, our joy does not depend on some great calling.

And I thought I would just open the season and give you a little taste

of what we're going to talk about by reading some of the beginning of the book. The word calling has always seemed to tease me like a mysterious secret containing the answer to my ridiculously

restless spirit.

We wonder if we're missing some mystical great noble purpose that we were supposed to squeeze

into the holes of our ordinary lives.

We feel numb, we feel bored.
