John Thune has been named the Senate Majority Leader.

He'll be the leader of the Republicans replacing Mitch McConnell,

Mitch McConnell, the longest serving Republican leader in American history.

McConnell has been leader since the early 2000s.

John Thune of South Dakota will replace him.

It was between him and John Cornyn in the Enric Scott did not have enough votes to make it to the second round of the vote.

The ultimate vote wound up being 29-24 is a closed-door vote.

We don't know who voted for whom unless people were pretty vocal about it.

Most of them weren't.

But John Thune will be the Senate Republican leader.
