The book is called Confrontation with Evil, the possession that inspired the exorcist. Stephen Lachance, our guest this evening, as we kick off our new five night a week format, he's appeared on numerous television and radio show programs.

You've probably seen him on documentaries on the travel channel. He's also been a part of the Booth Brothers documentaries, children of the grave and the possessed.

Stephen has also completed a documentary for the fifth season DVD release of Supernatural, the popular television series about the two brothers who hunt demons.

Tonight we're going to take a look at a really interesting story. This is an in depth review of the 1949 possession that inspired the movie the exorcist. Stephen, welcome to Beyond the Darkness and thank you for joining us tonight.

Oh, thanks for having me. It's good to be able to talk to you again and miss you, man. Yeah, it's been too long and I'm glad you'll be kicking off our new expanded format here. So like I said, I wanted to come out swinging in this story has always been something that fascinates me. Now for our listeners that might just be tuning in and are not familiar, Stephen, you've written a couple other books based on your own experiences with dark forces.

Give us just a taste of that if you would. I mean, how long have you been dealing with the paranormal in your own life?

In my own life, well, he said from 2001 to 2011 was really the bad years where things were really at a low point and things were we we moved into a house in 2001.
