We are back!
My guest today is Michel Roux.
Michel is a legendary figure in the world of food – he’s a chef and restaurateur - he’s the Michelin starred owner of London’s iconic Le Gavroche, founded by his father and uncle in the 1960’s. Celebrating over 50 years in business the Roux’s have built a gastronomic dynasty.
His grandparents and their parents before them were charcutiers so food has always been a family affair. Perhaps it was inevitable that Michel would fall in love with food as his family had done before him – the story goes that he was practically born in a kitchen when his mother went into labour during service at his fathers restaurant.
Beyond restaurants, you may well know Michel from his extensive television career, he was a judge on Masterchef the professionals for 6 years , has been a regular on Saturday Kitchen and has fronted BBC 2’s Food and Drink. His latest project is his brilliant new series for Food Network – called Michel Roux’s French Country Cooking.

0:14.0 | I just find there to be something so wonderfully comforting about those iconic yellow boxes. |
0:19.6 | Perhaps it's because I grew up with them, always being in my parents' kitchen. |
0:24.2 | Or perhaps it's because they were always there in the background of every birthday cake being lit. |
0:30.4 | No kitchen should be complete without a trusty box of these matches. |
0:34.8 | They are just the easiest and most eco-friendly way to light everything from |
0:38.9 | stoves and barbecues to candles. You may think that all matches are created equal, but surely |
0:45.9 | we've all gone through a box of matches where they all break before you can even get one to strike. |
0:51.6 | And that simply doesn't happen with cookses. And that's why they've been |
0:55.8 | the go-to kitchen match for so long. As an added bonus, each box now features a recipe from the |
1:01.8 | one and only Tom Kerridge. To find out more, head to the website www.combatches.com.com. |
1:09.7 | And you can find them on social media with the handle at |

1:29.4 | These range from finding out about the dish that most reminds them of their childhood, |
1:33.6 | the best dish they've ever eaten. And of course, the last dish they would choose to eat |
1:38.9 | before being cast off to the desert island. We're back, which is very exciting for me, at least. |
