I was reading last night about the Napoleonic War and Napoleon's invasion of Russia.

It went very badly for them disease and famine, not just cold weather.

And the Russians essentially decided they needed to get Napoleon out of Russia.

And essentially what they did is they provided what they called their golden path.

They blocked every route, made it difficult for Napoleon to pass except for one route out of the country.
