| 0:00.0 | Hey, friends. Welcome back to the old fashion on purpose podcast. So if you're watching this episode over on the YouTube channel, you may notice that our setup is a little bit different today. |
| 0:09.0 | And I have a guest that you may or may not be familiar with. |
| 0:13.0 | This has been a long time coming. I have been producing this podcast since 2019 and I have yet to have my husband on finally getting out of the shadows. |
| 0:23.0 | He's actually coming out of the shadows quite a bit more lately and it wasn't that I didn't want to happen on. We've had lots of conversations about all the things that you talk about, but it just never lined up with our schedules and then we were trying to figure out how to do our mics and it was a lot of excuses. |
| 0:37.0 | Sounds like a lot of excuses. Here we are. We are here. Honestly, we've talked about half the time just turning on the mics and letting it record our very passionate brainstorming sessions. |
| 0:50.0 | Sometimes they get pretty interesting, really interesting. The other day our employees, Terry and Kayla were listening. We were hashing out something. Oh, we were looking at we're talking about billboards for the soda found putting a billboard along the interstate. |
| 1:01.0 | And our typical fiery interchange and Terry and Kayla were just like cracking up. So anyway, I don't know if we'll do that or not. You probably don't want to listen to that conversation, but maybe on some of our masterminding will let you come along for the ride. Hopefully not scared anyone off. |
| 1:15.0 | We might have to put some disclaimers in there. We're two sometimes they get a little fire or two type A or you don't know. I mean, I did. We're both type A. So sometimes sometimes it works really well. Anyway, today's topic is a topic that was submitted by a follower over on Instagram. |
| 1:40.0 | A few weeks ago, I asked what you guys wanted to hear me talk about on the podcast. This one came up and this is such a good topic. I didn't want to just stick it in the Q&A episode. I did a few weeks back. I wanted to dedicate a whole episode to it. |
| 1:52.0 | And I thought this is a great one to have Christian share around as well. And that is what do you do when your spouse isn't into home studying. |
| 2:02.0 | We have a lot of women, especially listening to this podcast. We have some guys too. It's not all women, but a lot of women excuse female. |
| 2:09.0 | And I get this question a lot over the years or have received it, you know, they're into the home studying. They're driving forward into natural living and eating better and getting the cows and the chickens, but their husband's not sure. |
| 2:20.0 | So we'll talk about strategies. |
| 2:23.0 | So why are they not sure? What is it? What is it? What do you think is the main hold up? Well, we got it. We'll get into that. |
| 2:30.0 | Okay. So first off, I just want to say, Christian wasn't anti-home studying. Would you say your anti-home studying? |
| 2:39.0 | No, I wasn't anti-home studying. I think it was more I was too busy for home studying, I guess. I had a lot of things going on in my own world, so to speak. |
| 2:49.0 | Yeah, and you were into the idea of opting out of the system. Like our first, I think was our first date. We talked about owning cows someday. |
| 2:57.0 | Yeah, we both have the idea. We wanted to be separate from, you know, not that there's anything wrong with the systems that are existing in current society, but we wanted to be as far away from those as we could, even though we don't totally live off grid now. |
| 3:10.0 | We still wanted to be, you know, we wanted to have ultimate responsibility for everything that we had going on. |
| 3:15.0 | And, you know, I think for myself, it probably took a while for me to recognize some of the benefits and the advantages that what Joe was learning and pushing for on a day-to-day life while I was still off working. |
| 3:28.0 | And, yeah, so initially when we had those conversations, we didn't know home studying existed. Like we, I mean, we're like the OG homesteaders, not like 1800 style, but like we were doing it before there was TikTok and YouTube and Instagram. |
| 3:42.0 | It was not trendy. It was not cool. It was just weird back then. |
