Last Wednesday, just two days after defense attorneys asked Judge Scott McAfee

disqualify District Attorney Fani Willis. The judge gave them the go-ahead to do

so. While this surprised many legal pundits who have been closely following the election

interference case, including some of breakdowns regulars, they had predicted Judge McAfee

would deny the request, but the judge granted what's officially called a

certificate of immediate review. In other words, the chance to file a pretrial appeal.

Defense attorneys for former President Donald Trump and seven co-defendants have until early April to file the application to the Georgia Court of Appeals.

The Appeals Court then has 45 days to decide

whether to hear the appeal or not. If the Court says it doesn't want to hear the

matter, then the defense can ask the Georgia Supreme Court to hear it.

If the state high court takes the same position as the appeals court,

the case then returns to Judge McAfee.
