The Bible tells one big story of redemption. Today, we are journeying through Joshua 7-9 and exploring how it points to Jesus, where it fits into the story of Scripture, and how the truth of God’s Word impacts our lives. Follow along with us in the Story of Redemption Study Vol. 1, today on page 144. Notes: In Deuteronomy 27, God gives Moses commands for a covenant renewal once inside the Promised Land. Welcome to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. The Bible tells one big story of redemption,

0:09.1

and we want to spend five minutes every day journeying through the Bible from start to

finish and exploring how all of it points to Jesus.

Hey everybody, welcome back to a year in the Bible with Daily Grace. My name is Jenny,

0:27.1

and today we are looking at Joshua 7 through 9. Yesterday we discussed how the Israelites

0:32.6

conquered Jericho and how this showed that God was faithful to keep the promise he made

0:37.8

to Abraham, all the way back in Genesis. Unfortunately, today we see that on two accounts

dishonesty in the tempted conquest of A. So, as Joshua planned the siege of A, he decided to send

1:37.3

only two or three thousand men to battle, because the people of A were so few. But the battle went

1:43.8

horribly wrong, and the men of A defeated them. When Joshua heard about this, he asked God why he

1:50.4

would bring them across the Jordan and deliver Jericho to them, only to have the people of A killed him.

1:57.8

God then tells Joshua that Israel sinned, and that is why A was not delivered to them. This leads

2:05.5

to the discovery of Akin's deception, and unfortunately, he and his entire family is put to death

2:14.5

in the valley of Acor, which translates to the valley of trouble. After Akin's death,

2:21.8

God delivered the city of A to the Israelites. In response to this, Joshua built an altar to the
