of Habak this is a really short buck, only three chapters long, so we're actually

going to cover the entire book today. I hope you had a chance to read through it from beginning to end before

tuning in. The Book of Abak is beautiful and it considers the sovereignty and goodness of

God in the face of corruption and suffering. It was timely for the original

audience because Babylon was beginning to overtake much of that region, but it's also incredibly timely

for us too.

I mean, have you ever thought to yourself, wow, there's a lot of hard stuff going on in the

world today.

If God is good, why do these bad things happen? I know I have, and

thankfully this is the question that the Book of Habak answers for us. Before we go through the

chapters, let me tell you where we are in history. About a

hundred years before this time the Northern Kingdom of Israel had fallen, but the

fall of the Southern Kingdom of Judah hasn't quite happened yet.

Habak is the prophet who is going to prophesy of the fall that's coming.

Habakak knows the fall is coming and he's asking God why he would allow Judah to be overtaken by the Babylonians who were wicked.

But what's going on inside of Judah?

It was the time when King Josiah died,

and that king was one of the good kings of Judah.
