Quick, what's more American than baseball and apple pie? If you answered steroids and diabetes,

you're technically correct, but we here at PastGas have another potential answer for you.

The all-American pickup truck. In its trist form, the pickup truck is designed

with a single purpose. Getting work done. If a Ferrari is an Italian stallion, an American pickup truck

is a Clyde's Dale. Reliable, tough, and big. Much like German cars who known for precision

and Japanese cars for dependability, American trucks are often marketed with a single word.

Tough. However, as we'll soon get to over the past 100 odd years, pickup trucks have shown

themselves to be a lot more than tough. Today, we're talking about trucks that are counterculture

cool, lazily fast, and in the case of the 1972 Austin Mini pickup, oddly cute. Seriously,

just look at this little guy. No melt your heart. Pick up trucks have never been more popular,

especially in the States. So why is it? While fewer and fewer people have an actual use for pickup

truck, more people are buying them, with Americans alone buying over 2 million trucks a year.
