Summary

In this episode, Nicole takes on the gravity of emotional health in your life, and explains JournalSpeak further. There is tremendous power in learning this "foreign" language, which brings repressed emotions forward safely. This allows your mind/body system to reach equilibrium without needing to divert you with chronic pain, and the symptoms of chronic conditions. Nicole invites you to give yourself the gift of being curious. Your willingness could open doors you never knew existed, revealing endless possibilities for you. The life you save is your own. Hello everybody and welcome back to episode two of the podcast The Cure for Chronic Pain

0:14.3

with me Nicole Sachs, LC SW. And I'm here today for episode two of the podcast because I thought

0:23.5

that before I start interviewing patients and colleagues and thought leaders in my body medicine,

0:31.5

I thought I needed to tell you a little bit more about what I mean when I say journal speak.

0:39.0

If you listened to last week's podcast, you do know that I mentioned journal speak in my journey

0:45.9

when I was sitting at that deli and Dr. Sarno had instructed me that I really needed to take a

0:53.1

deep dive and understand the things that I might be repressing out of necessity, the emotions,

1:01.2

the experiences, the trauma, the things that had happened in my life by no fault of my own,

1:08.0

able to carry on their responsibilities of daily life. And so there's a reason why we feel

1:40.4

defensive, why we feel dissociated, why we repress things. It's a function of our brain and

1:47.4

our nervous system. In fact, it's the same protective function that leads us to feel physical pain

1:53.8

as a result of emotional repression. So it's all coming from a well-meaning place.

1:59.2

But in any case, when Dr. Sarno first met with me, he said, listen, you are a patient of TMS,

2:07.9

you have a structural abnormality in your back. Some people have one that they can point out via

2:13.8

MRI and some people don't. Some people have a migraine or fibromyalgia or irritable bowel or they have

2:20.6

back pain and they don't have a structural finding. So it really actually is immaterial. It happened

2:26.2

that I did. And it also happens that TMS often finds its way into the place that you are most likely

2:34.3

to believe it. Because if you're thinking about the complicated, beautiful structure of the human

2:41.2

system. And if you're thinking that if the primary reason is to protect us, well, then they have to
