Today we're going to be talking about the Old Eaton County Courthouse, which is now a museum and an event venue.

The Courthouse Square Museum is located in downtown Charlott, Michigan,

a city about 20 miles southwest of Lansing. The courthouse was built in 1885 and has quite a haunting

history. It served as the Eaton County Courthouse for 90 years until 1976.

On the same property was the sheriff's residence and women and children's jail, which

now serves as office base and the men's jail, which has since been torn down.

sake, the building that stands today is actually the second Eaton County Courthouse. The first

courthouse was a one-room clapboard shack that was built in 1845 and was moved to a local park when the new
