What's happened is that we created an extractive, destructive system of agriculture that's created

destructive foods that's created destruction to our health and destruction to all the things

that we really care about. So that's the bad news. The good news is that, you know, this is a

solve over. Hi everybody, Mary M. Williamson here and welcome to my podcast. I'm very excited

about our guest today. A man I've known for several years named Dr. Mark Hyman. You might have

heard my interview several weeks ago with Aaron Brockovich talking about the corruption of America

as water supply. Today, we're going to be talking about the corruption of our food supply. You

know, we go on and on about holistic health and wellness and how we're all going to be healthy,

but there's a limit to how healthy any of us can be ultimately when there's the kind of toxins

and chemicals not only in our food, but in our fertilizers and the pesticides in so many aspects

of the food that we consume and the air that we breathe. We now have a situation where within 10

years, 83 million Americans will have three or more chronic diseases compared to 30 million

in 2015. So here, people are desperately talking about how we're going to pay for health care,

but what we really need to be talking about is why are we so sick? Why is there so much more

chronic illness in the United States than among the populations in most European countries for instance?

What is going on? Well, a large part of what's going on is the corruption of our food. Now,

let's take it deeper. The food industry in the United States is a $15 trillion industry. We're

talking about chemical companies. We're talking about food companies. We're talking about big agricultural

companies. There is a deep corruption that we're talking about here. And just as in so many areas where

the undue influence of corporate money is actually thwarting us is actually obstructing the

emergence of solutions. That's what's happening here. And it's making Americans sick. There are
