There's been a fairly big update in the case, and it actually has to do with this very song.

First, let's acknowledge it's been a while.

We wrapped up our last episode at the end of August 2019.

In the nearly year and a half since then, a lot has happened.

The coronavirus, the George Floyd protests over racial justice over the summer, the election, the storming of the Capitol last week.

But even though it's been some time since our last episode,

we want to come to you because we have an update in this case.

Darren Wynne's new attorneys in the D.C. Public Defender Service have filed a legal brief in his case asking an appeals court judge to throw out Darren's conviction

and requesting a new trial.

This happened just a few days before Christmas

2020. There's a lot that's still up in the air, though. We don't have the prosecutor's

response to this filing, but it could be a while before we get that. It took the defense in

early two years from Darren's sentencing to file this appeal paperwork. But this is just the way
