My name is Shelby Turner. I'm one of your hosts for this podcast and today we're going to talk about acts 16 through 18.

Now at this point we're a little over halfway through this dynamic book of the Bible

and while we've already seen the gospel spread in amazing ways it's only going to increase in its reach from here.

In chapter 16 we meet Timothy who becomes Paul's prodigy and curiously after they've just

had a summit deciding that circumcision is not a requirement,

Paul circumcises Timothy before he joins him in ministry.

Why exactly does he do this?

Well, Timothy had a Jewish mother and a Greek father.

He is part Jewish.

And if he is going to help Paul minister two Jews,

he needs to have credibility to do so and circumcision will give him that.

This was not to qualify Timothy for ministry or to prove his salvation.

Paul and Timothy desire to travel to Asia, but God prevents them from going at this time. The gospel would travel to Asia later, by the way, so don't worry.
