The thing about genre, the reason it even exists at all is because it's the device and the mechanism by which we send our values down to the next generation.

It's the way we affirm them to ourselves throughout our life and it's the way a

culture keeps its culture intact. It's the myth of the core value of that civilization, whatever it may be, that is going to go down through history and it survives or it doesn't survive.

And that's what genre does. It carries the myth.

Yeah, Jane and Krens has written probably hundreds of romance novels at this point.

Her major pen names right now are Jane Ann Krens, under which she writes kind of contemporaries.

Jane Castle is where she kind of puts all of her kind of speculative

fiction novels and Amanda Quick is what she writes historicals under. but she has been around for a really long time.

She's going to start off by talking about her many pen names, which also include Jane Taylor,

Jane Bentley, Stephanie James, and Amanda Glass.

Amazing. This conversation, I have had the absolute joy of, you know, sharing meals with

Jane and Krantz, and so she is is I knew she was going to be remarkable but this

conversation really gosh I felt better for it at the end I felt smarter about romance at the end and I felt like

motivated in a way that I haven't felt motivated in a long time.
