Summary

Happy New Year! Welcome to Season 3! In this episode we talk about beginning again, our word of the year, not settling for mediocrity, and how to engage in your life with new perspective and openness to the love of God.

One Thing We Love This Week:

Discussion Questions:

  1. What is your word of the year? If you don't have one, when will you make time to listen to what God has for you this year?
  2. How will you be intentional about living into your word of the year?
  3. What areas in your life do you need to begin again and receive the grace to start over?
  4. What areas do you need to "unclench your fists" and let it go, so that God can come in power?

Journal Questions:

  1. In what areas have you settled for mediocrity?
  2. How do you specifically want to become more fully alive in various areas of your life? (family, health, spiritual, community, emotional health)
  3. What was God sewing into your life last year? How do you think that's connected to what He has for you this year?

Quote to Ponder: "The object of a New Year is not that we should have a new year. It is that we should have a new soul and a new nose; new feet, a new backbone, new ears, and new eyes. Unless a particular man made New Year resolutions, he would make no resolutions. Unless a man starts afresh about things, he will certainly do nothing effective." ― G.K. Chesterton

if we can infect listeners on the first podcast series of the season, but you know, are

0:50.3

we going to do that or not? How are you doing? Are you still coherent? You know, I had high

0:53.9

hopes like everybody else of starting off the new year working out every day, eating

0:58.2

right, doing all the things. And I have been flat all my back with crazy vertigo and

1:04.4

a cold. And so, you know, keeping it real, that's how it is. But I think all three of us

1:09.9

have been really sick. Michelle, how are you? I know. Yeah. I am trying to sit up and record

1:16.1

while we're talking here because I've been laying horizontal for the last three or four

1:19.5

days. We had a nasty case, the flu in our house, like we had a flu epidemic and it just knocks

1:26.2

me on my butt. This is how bad. No coffee in three or four days. I know gasp. And I actually

1:34.3

miss the national championship college football national championship. My husband's like,

1:38.4

are you dying? Because I'm like, I've got to go to bed. I can't even stay up for it. And

1:43.2

you know, it's bad. You know, it's a college college football, man. It's like the world

1:48.4

that's bad. And that's near the end. Yeah. It is. And so I'm pretty glad that I did miss

1:53.2

the end because you know, I'm not an alibi. I'm a fan. So that would have been heartbreaking
