Hey church, it's John Berenger. I'm the Arlington campus pastor, and it's Devo time. So if you've got your

Bibles, open to Psalms chapter 4, the fourth Psalm. That's what we're going to be. And it's only

eight verses. So I'm going to begin just by reading it, and then we will get into it. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness, you have given me relief when I was in distress.

Be gracious to me and hear my prayer.

O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame?

How long will you love vain words and seek after lies? But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself.

The Lord hears when I call to him.

Be angry and do not sin.

Ponder in your own hearts on your beds and be silent.

Offer right sacrifices and put your trust in the Lord.

There are many who say, who will show us some good?

Lift up the light of your face upon us, O Lord.

You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.

In peace, I will both lie down and sleep.

For you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. This is a fascinating

Psalm. It's a fascinating portion of scripture on several fronts. But one of them is that,

I don't know about you, but I took notice that it seems to kind of bounce around a lot, that

David's kind of all over the place. For example, it begins with David

addressing God, and it seems kind of personal, but then David switches to addressing men, and you

can hear and feel God actually addressing men there, and then David switches back to addressing God.

This time it's not personal, He's saying us before switching right

back to personal. And then he ends with beautifully describing this sleep and contentment that it has,
