Hey, church family. Welcome to Devo Time. If you got your Bible, we're going to be in Matthew

Chapter 11. And one of the things I want to look at is this, is we've talked about it before,

but just a little different angle. Sometimes people will ask, if God is good and God is loving, then what a bad thing's happened?

The prosperity gospel teaches that if you follow Jesus, then you are guaranteed health and wealth

and happiness. And the problem with that historically has been the Bible. In Matthew

Chapter 11, we see this. We'll just pick it up. It says this.

When Jesus had finished instructing the 12 disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in

their cities. Now, when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples.

Now, real quick, John the Baptist is in prison.

The reason John the Baptist is in prison is because he was speaking out against Herod

the Tetrarch, because Herod the Tetrarch, that's like King Herod,

King Herod had divorced his first wife and he married his, his sister-in-law,

his brother's wife. And John the Baptist had no problem pointing out the immorality of politicians

in his day. Well, he did it long enough, and he was loud enough,

that eventually Herod imprisoned him.

And so while he's in jail, John the Baptist sends word to Jesus, about Jesus.

And here's what the disciples of John the Baptist come to Jesus.

And they say to Jesus,

are you the one who is to come or shall we look for another? You ever struggle with doubt?

Never scratch your head and say, is God really in charge? Is God really love me? How can this

be happening? Well,
