There's no furniture of any kind, no bed, table, chair, two mattresses on the ground,

two prisoners squatting or lying or kneeling on the mattresses or on the floor,footed and what really got me I think more than anything else was the stench of the place

the walls are smeared with dirty smears of rotten food and what seemed to me very like Cuban

excrement in some cases anyhow. The whole atmosphere is so heavy. It's really so

forbidding that in a couple of cases I was almost overcome. I felt very like
