U.S. stocks finish the day with mixed results for the major indices. The S&P 500 added 0.4% to reach a new record high.

The NASDAQ climbed 0.9% as chip stocks found momentum today. The Dow, however, dropped 0.8% weighed down by

heavy losses in health care stocks. Lower federal payment rates for Medicare Advantage plans

pressured the insurance sector. Among individual companies, United Health Group shares skidded

nearly 20% today. The company issued soft revenue guidance for

26, and Humana shares tumbled 21% following the government news on Medicare rates.

General Motors shares jumped nearly 9% after beating quarterly expectations. The automaker

reported a loss that was smaller than analysts had anticipated. Micron Technology

shares rose 5% as the company announced a massive investment in Singapore. The chipmaker plans to

spend $24 billion to meet memory demand. Pinterest shares slid nearly 10% following a major

workforce reduction announcement. The social

media platform is cutting 15% of its staff as it pivots toward artificial intelligence.
