From K-QED. I'm Olivia Alan Price. This is Bay Curious. There was some big news for San Francisco

parents this week. The school assignment process known as The Lottery may be headed to its end.

On Tuesday, three school board members propose the district come up with a better plan

for assigning kindergartners to a school. This is a huge deal because the lottery

is super unpopular with parents. It's complicated and confusing, so confusing that last year we followed parents through the process to learn how it all works.

Since this topic is going to be in the news a lot over the next few months, we're going to play our original piece.

I'm starting today's episode at John C O'Connell High School. It's the beginning of October and I'm here for

the school fair where there's probably more than 70 schools that all are

represented here and hundreds if not thousands of parents and kids

running about trying to figure out where it's best for their kids to go to school.
