It's interesting in a day where we have been, you know, this current generation, we've been sort of

conditioned to expect to always be, you know, good enough, smart enough, you know, accepted, always valuable.

You know, there's no such thing as a dumb question. And as it turns out,

the Bible doesn't really teach that. There are dumb questions and you might end up being a total

loser. Oh, Brett, that's horrible. Well, you know, have you ever heard of somebody being called

a good for nothing? Boy, Brett, that's horrible. I can't even believe you'd say that. Well, you know, have you ever heard of somebody being called a good for nothing?

Boy, Brett, that's horrible.

I can't even believe you'd say that.

Well, what's interesting is Jesus is going to give us here on the sermon on the mat.

After giving us the beatitudes, which is just amazing in and of itself.

And by the way, he preached this sermon, right, in this place where we have our picture today.

We're making these Matthew pictures, all places where these events happened.

And this is right where Jesus would have stood on the Mount of Beatitudes that it's called there in Israel by the Sea of Galilee.

But he gave the sermon on the mat, the first part of it's that the beatitudes.

And then he started diving into some really heavy stuff of things that we should be careful about things to watch out for that which he expects of us

and he warns of something that might cause you or me to be something well what we might say a good

for nothing and i don't know about you but i don't want to be a good for nothing i'd I don't know about you, but I don't want to be a good for nothing.

I'd like to make my life count somehow. But Jesus tells us what actually is part of that.

And have you ever heard the phrase, are you worth your salt? Well, that's kind of what Jesus is going to

tap into talking about that. And where did that phrase come from? And what's that all about?

Well, as it turns out, there's something that can make you kind of worthless.

People look for value in their lives for so many different things.
