Today's guests are Ryan Fowler, the director of AV and ADAS Data at GM, and

Jason Ecclman, manager of the Advanced Vehicle Integration Team at GM. Our own Lindsay Van

Holly, GM reporter at Automotive News, spoke with them for this week's segment about how and

why GM is integrating its former Robotaxie venture with Super Cruise. It's going to be hard, but I think that's what makes it good and that's what makes it fun. And so we're going to do it. Lindsay joins me now. Hi, Lindsay. Hi, Molly. Before we get to my interview, though, let's talk about the week. Molly, what were you working on? I did something a little bit different this week. I wrote a column for automotive news,

so a bit more of an analysis, kind of personal take, that was inspired by some of the

stuff that's been happening down in Washington over the last couple of weeks. So we had earlier

this month the establishment of the new Nita Cafe proposal,

so the proposed changes to the corporate average fuel economy standard. And then the week following that,

there was a hearing at a House Select Committee meeting about China and about the Chinese auto industry's threat to the United States.

And in paying attention to both of these things, I kind of noticed this through line where

the automakers testified and submitted comment to the hearing saying that China threatened

the domestic industry with its subsidies and with its kind of consistent policy

regime. And then meanwhile, the big three representatives appeared at the rollback of the Nicafe

standards at the Oval Office. So I went back and I looked at how the different automakers have

kind of approached EV support from the federal government.

You know, they supported it in the beginning. And then, you know, with the change of administration

and admittedly with the change in the rate of EV adoption, they took a different tack. And so I kind

of line up all of those things in order and took a look at that issue in the column,

which I think people may find interesting. So I would recommend that they check it out.
