This is an IHeart podcast. that 2024 story which frankly i'm not even sure you can tell the totality of until like one day way down the road.

But that story, if you dive into it a little bit, everybody knows about the ups and downs.

Then you got the rivalry loss.

And then you got the national title win.

And that's like the bumper sticker version of it.

But there's also the part where you had Chip Kelly in there,

calling plays. And when I spoke to you this time a year ago, you said, that's going to free me up.

Now, let me delegate a whole lot more that I'd normally have to have my hands on.

It wasn't a perfect season. There were ups and downs. How do you have the discernment to know

when to bail on an idea versus when to say,

I've got to stick this through. I trust the process. I trust the decision making. Let's just

let it play out because most people probably would have panicked. Yeah. I think that's part of the

process of, you know, growing during a season. And you have to identify what the problem is.

And you're trying to identify, you know, is it a schematic issue? Is it a coaching issue? Is it a

personnel issue? As you go through. And when you run into into those things you have to make the right decisions

and my experience in the NFL certainly help with that because those are longer seasons

where those decisions that are being made as you are starting to you know figure out what your

team is and make these adjustments down the road you got to make sure that sure that the right adjustments. And sometimes you go into games and you're like, man, that was, that was not the right way to go. And, you know, or you have to adjust with injuries. I think that's probably the thing that during our season up front on offense that, you know, people don't talk about a ton, but that was a huge deal for us when we lost Simmons and we had to move Donnie out. Then we lose Seth in the middle and it was like, okay, how do we handle this? And so that was really part of that journey too. But to your point, like focusing on the process is really, really important during something like that, as opposed to just saying,

okay, this is broken. It's not broken. Here are some things that need to get fixed. Here's what we need to get done. And then we go from there. And so to me, that was probably the biggest, you know, or at least the most important part of the process. I was at the Oregon game in Eugene. I was at the Oregon game in Pasadena. And so the way, in retrospect,

that you look at that, you got, basically you got four variables. Okay, so you got your team,

you got their team, you got the venue you're going to play in, and then you got time. So the,

the teams were the same logos. venue changed, but what did time alter from the first matchup to the second matchup?
