Welcome to The Treatment. It was just two years ago that I met my guest, Ryan Cougler, at the Sundance Film, where his film Fruitvale, which later became

Fruitvale Station, became the sensation of the year, winning prizes at Sundance and Cannes, and

every place you want to name, except for a place I should have won, but that's another conversation.

Anyway, his newest film as writer-director, and this is the first time I ever met a director

who said, this is what my next film's going to be. And it ended up being his next film.

His new film is Creed, which is his continuation of the Rocky Stories.

And I remember you told me that. walking through the Kubrick exhibit at Lachma, you said, this is my next, this is my next

joint. And there's like, you knew it was going to happen then, didn't you?

Yeah, around that time, we knew, we knew that it was, it was looking like it was going to

happen. It wasn't like setting stone at that point, but it was getting, it was getting

close to there. And I was, you know, I was really, really excited about it, man. I really, I told you to get your reaction.
