Summary
"Humans can lick hands too."
You probably have heard the story before β it is a popular urban legend. Urban myths are spread by word of mouth, creating modern folklore. But while urban legends are mostly modern-day fairytales, some of them have a true story behind them. One of those stories is the legend of Candyman, the hooked killer who can be summoned by saying his name five times to a mirror. While Candyman's tale, with its supernatural elements, is scary and makes you avoid mirrors for a good while, the true story behind the urban legend is no less frightening. 52-year-old Ruthie McCoy did not purposely summon a killer in her apartment in 1987, but the end result was the same.
