And today we're talking about the lesbian activist and centenarian Ruth Ellis.

We have some content warnings before we begin this episode.

We'll be talking about period typical racism throughout the USA in the 20th century,

especially the early 20th century.

That will include mentions of race riots.

We will briefly mention rape and murder, including a false accusation of rape,

and we'll also mention execution.

It will also include the use of outdated language for African American people, in quotes.

But otherwise, I think this should be a pretty like chill, lighthearted, and happy episode.

So most of my sources for this podcast come from interviews with Ruth herself.

There is a documentary about Ruth, which I'll talk about a bit more later on.

It's about an hour long, I think, which I couldn't get my hands on, unfortunately.

And that includes, like, a lot of interview material with Ruth.

But basically, I read a lot of articles that quoted this documentary.
