Today on the show, President Trump says he's, quote, very unhappy about every aspect,

end quote, of Israel's decision to attack Hamas

political leaders while they were gathering to discuss a ceasefire deal in the nation of Qatar.

We'll get the latest from the Middle East. And we'll consider how much the attack has damaged

diplomatic relationships in the region. So much of diplomacy and good relations and friendships isn't based so much on a text of some

agreement. It's based on the working understandings and the working relationships that people

have. That's coming up in a few minutes. But first, Poland is holding emergency meetings

with its allies after its Air Force and NATO fighter jets shot down several Russian drones that flew

into Polish territory overnight. Today, Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said it's the

closest his country has been to open conflict

since World War II. It's also the first time the alliance has fought Russian drones over a NATO

country, at least since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago.

We called up NPR's Joanna Kikis in Kiev, and she told Sarah McCammon,
