Can historic adversaries be unlikely allies?

Hello again, I'm Armin Alney, and this is To the Point from Public Radio International. A daily

look at the issues Americans care about most. Refugees continue to stream out of Syria by the tens of thousands,

creating an international crisis, but efforts to restore order are more confusing than ever.

Russia backs the murderous regime of Bashar al-Assad, while the U.S. support so-called moderate

rebels. Now, Russia is sending equipment in some troops, while the U.S. has limited involvement

to an air campaign and some training.

But the worst possible nightmare for either power is a failed state taken over by ISIS.

Is there any chance of finding common ground?
