A daily look at the issues Americans care about most.

President Obama said yesterday the U.S. has failed to change the dynamic inside Syria.

He's all but conceded that Vladimir Putin has.

Putin's airstrikes are helping two American enemies, Syrian President Assad,

and perhaps indirectly, the Islamic State.

Meantime, ISIS is increasingly a threat to Turkey, America's NATO ally.

The U.S. appears to be running out of options.

But many questions are yet to be answered, among them, is Putin creating his own Middle East quagmire?
