Vaccines, much in the news since the pandemic, but in the news in a fashion that I had not

imagined before I read Dr. Henry Miller's column about Russia using propaganda to prey

on people's doubts about science, about vaccine, about, in general, how our lives are

lived here in America. There's no reason for this. We're not at war with Russia. And yet,

Dr. Miller, you are the Glenn Swagger Distinguished Fellow of American Council on Science and

Health. You routinely deal with medical challenges. This story, however, is appalling. It's not

about medicine. It's about malignant actors in Russia with the permission and encouragement

and money of the state, praying on Americans, something called reflexive control. What

is that, Henry? Good evening, too. Good evening, John. It's an interesting concept. The

historian and journalist, Anne and Applebaum, wrote about this in the Atlantic some time ago.

Reflexive control is the science of how to get your enemies to make mistakes. And part

in parcel of that in this context is promoting the divisiveness and chaos in your enemies

societies. And that's what the Russians are doing to us and to other Western countries.

They have a very large and very sophisticated propaganda apparatus that continues to

turn out all sorts of misinformation and disinformation about technologies that we are

preeminent in or even simply vaccines in order to injure Americans. There's no other conceivable

purpose to the kind of disinformation that they're turning out.

You remind me of the 1980s story about the early days of HIV and AIDS and how that was

all blamed on US military laboratories. I was a younger person then and I just thought

it was fantastic and why would anybody do this? But now it becomes part of the pattern.

Russia and now I believe the people's Republic of China is practicing the same thing. Whatever
