CNN reported last week how Russia was helping Iran in its war with the U.S. and Israel by sharing intelligence.

But we're getting new details today about just how specific that intelligence is.

CNN Chief International Security Correspondent Nick Pay Payton Walsh, is in Northern

Jordan right now. Nick, what are you hearing?

Hey, David. Russia is providing tactical, strategic advice for Iran in its use of drones to

attack targets across the Gulf region. That's according to a Western intelligence official

that I spoke to.

And it's important because the Russians have developed years of really strong tactical knowledge

as to how to evade the air defences. Ukraine's put up against their Shahid drones. They often

launch in hundreds every single night and the air defenses of Ukraine adapt constantly to new Russian tactics.

I've seen them.

Bob, we've changed direction to try and get through to key targets.

And the idea that that three years' worth of knowledge is suddenly now in Iranian hands will potentially explain how they've got through so many air defenses across that region.
