Well, the day after his election victory, President Trump reportedly called Vladimir Putin

and urged him not to escalate Russian military activity in Ukraine.

Today, Ukraine says it has just experienced the biggest coordinated air attack in months.

With winter about to bite, energy systems have been disrupted.

There are many power cuts.

Well, our correspondent Paul Adams is in Denepro in eastern Ukraine.

He's joining us live now.

These were nationwide, right, Paul?

They certainly were, Owen.

Yes, from before dawn until actually not that long ago,

we've had air raid sirens and attacks right across the country.

I saw a map of all the drones and missiles,

the routes that they took because they're all plotted as they come in from Russia.

And the whole country is a dense web of tracks as all of these missiles and drones

landed all across the country as far west as Lviv, a lot in the south in Odessa and

Heceston and Nicapol and other places and even here in the Denepro area too. So this was a kind of

attack which Ukrainians are very familiar with but which hasn't happened for a good couple of

months or more. And as you said in your introduction, it comes as winter approaches. We've had

the first snow already. And there's a general belief here that we will likely see more of this

as Russia tries to plunge the country into darkness and damage
