Yeah, over the last 10 years, 95 million fewer trips have been taken on LA buses. They've lost 25%

of their ridership. Now, here are a few reasons. High rents are pushing low income people to

more distant areas where they can't rely on buses. The law allowing illegal immigrants to get

drivers licenses obviously means that more of them are driving cars instead of taking a bus.

Plus, says the Times, a surge in the region's homeless population has sparked concerns about

safety and sanitation. Translation to that is crime and filth on the buses. Is out of control.

So residents are buying cars in record numbers. That means that Los Angeles traffic is now worse

than ever, which means that bus travel takes even longer, which means even more people prefer to

drive cars, which means California won't be able to fix global warming by increasing mass transit
