0:05.8	And I think our minds are field like an extend far beyond our brains and can have effects beyond our brains.
0:17.1	Rupert Sheldrake, why don't we begin by exploring one or two of your most unconventional
0:23.2	perspectives that are underpinned by rigorous empirical validation?
0:28.3	And we can discuss why these remain non-mainstream, despite at least on the surface having
0:34.2	some robust scientific support, and also we will get into the evidence

0:41.5	Morphic resonance, which is the idea of memory and nature, inherent in all nature,
0:51.3	and every species having a collective memory, and our own memory is not being inside our brains.
0:59.4	That's one.
1:01.2	The extended mind is another that our minds extend far beyond our brains, extend out into the world
1:09.0	around us, and do so right now in every every act of vision, whenever we see something, I think the images
1:15.9	are where they seem to be outside our heads.
1:20.9	And I test that by investigating the phenomenon of the sense of being stared at when people can tell when they're
1:29.1	being looked at from behind and turn around and someone is looking at them, which is scientifically
1:35.6	known as scompesthesia.
1:38.2	And I suppose the third area is telepathy, which is the influence of people's feelings, emotions, or needs on other
1:48.5	people at a distance. And this also works with animals. So people's dogs and cats often
1:56.0	pick up their intentions, as well as other people they're close to.
2:01.6	So those are the three main areas in which I research, which are all of them sort of
2:08.6	rather beyond the normal boundaries of science, of a sort of textbook academic science.
